The former Bistro On Main and 808 On Main is now 808 Old Town. ATMOSPHERE: Not much has changed, sans for maybe new furniture? Even then I'm not 100% positive. The space is an old building with high ceilings, no a/c, and awning-style windows. A small room at the front can be used for private dining, and features high tops and counter seating that looks out to the sidewalk & street. Oddly, there is no bar, yet they have an extensive bar menu. The rest of the space is filled with regular tables. Restrooms are located in the building next door, accessible with a communal key. FOOD: Kimchi Hummus It sounds odd, but was really tasty! I guess it's traditional hummus, but they mix in kimchi, which turns the dip orange, and lifts the ho-hum hummus to a whole other level in the flavor department. Spice rating is a 1 on a 5 scale, very mild. Toasted and chewy pita triangles are used for dipping. Highly recommended. Spicy Chicken Wings Unfortunately they were all drumette pieces, no wingettes. Boo! Spice level is a 3 on a 5 scale, and overall was a bit dry. Classic Cheeseburger This was my spouse's dish. The single bite I had was so disappointing, as the thick-formed patty was chewy and mushy because it was underdone, and didn't have much flavor. The fries were warm and crispy, though I've had better. Where are the pickles?? Chicken Pesto Primavera My dish! The pasta fanatic in me will always order this first over everything else on the menu, and what a great choice it was. The spaghetti was done in a creamy pesto sauce that had tons of flavor and depth, along with yellow peppers, pine nuts, tender strips of chicken, fresh basil, fresh parmesan cheese, and 3 tasty slices of garlic bread. Highly recommended for the pasta and pesto fan! SERVICE: Our female server was friendly, professional, and checked on us often. OVERALL: Good food & service, fair portions.
Great place for breakfast... The staff was very friendly... The food was great... If their breakfast tasted this good... I can't wait to eat here for lunch and dinner... Stay safe and blessed everyone... 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Contacted the store to let them know that there were several flies cooked into my food. Wasn’t rude at all the response from the guy on the other line was “ did it taste good”? The next thing is I ordered carbonara. It’s literally scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese on top of pasta. I was willing to eat the food and just get over it but the fact that I found several flies and got the response I got from the worker at 8:08 old town. It’s just unreal. Be one if I came up the person wrong. I understand things happen. But his response was ridiculous and really unprofessional
I recently visited 808 Old Town at the suggestion of local friends, and I really enjoyed the cute, coffee-and-island vibe of the place. The restrooms at the back were impressively clean, which is always a plus. After indulging in heavy Hawaiian fare for over a week, it was refreshing to enjoy a sandwich with fries instead. The service was attentive, although the interior was a bit warm during our visit. My partner ordered the Katsu, which was decent but tasted a bit too much like plain ketchup, and the spicy pasta salad could use some improvement. Despite these minor setbacks, the overall atmosphere was fun, and I appreciated the great company, making for a pleasant experience overall!
Good place to eat in Wailuku. Located in the old town area of Wailuku, we stopped in for lunch and we weren’t disappointed. We liked the local vibe and there looked to be only a few tourists in the place. The food is good and came out quickly. I had mahi mahi and my wife had the caesar salad with a few changes. They have Maui Brewing Company root beer and ginger ale along with the usual assortment of soft drinks. We will have to come back on our next visit to the island.
