This is a small place, there was a long line with a 20 minute wait when we arrived. This was recommended by a friend. I got the fish and chips, it came with 3 small pieces that were fried to much for my taste. The slaw was good. My wife got the fish quesadilla, it was delicious much better than the fish I had. It was very loud and small. Just be aware then you will be fine. Parking is an issue, park in the free lot by the shell station. As road side is difficult to find an open place.
The line was 30 minutes, with some fun people to watch and chat to. Fish was a bit dry to my taste. The rice that came with garlic onions was awesome. Potatoes were undercooked, almost crunchy, but I still liked them.
Long line but well worth the wait. They have a good ordering and seating system. You can’t save a table until you order. I got the chowder and seafood pasta. Had to take some home for later. Will definitely visit again next time I’m there.
We always make an effort to visit this place when we come to Hawaii with our family. We have dined here on multiple occasions as well as their branch in Oahu. The Cajun rice is amazing and their fish selection is quite tasty. We often get the Ono and whatever catch of the day they have. This time was the opakapaka or pink snapper which was extremely tender, likely owing to the higher fat content relative to other leaner fish. People in the group ordered or clam chowder and was quite impressed with it as well.
Pretty good spot for lunch after the Road to Hana. I had the chicken pasta and it was good. My boyfriend had the chicken burger and he thought it was good too, just needed a little seasoning. We paid extra for fries but they were not very good and were a little soggy and under seasoned. We really enjoyed the crispy onion rings though! We finished them before taking a picture.
