Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is a wonderful restaurant tucked away in the back of the Wailea Shopping Center. You can enjoy some relaxing music before heading in for a delicious meal.
Although we didn’t have a reservation, we were fortunate to find a spot right away and were seated promptly.
They offer early bird specials between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m., so I made it just in time—only a few minutes before the steak special ended!
I ordered the steak with shrimp, which came with a salad and dessert. It’s such a great deal if the timing works out for you. All their dinners are Al La Carte, but this deal comes with a side so I did the garlic mashed potatoes and they were delicious .
Our server, Jared, was fantastic—very attentive and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. His kindness made the experience even better.
We were seated near the window, and it turned out to be the perfect time to enjoy the sunset. It was truly a memorable evening.

We ordered the prix fix dinner selection that's available between 4-6pm. The house salad was fresh and the salad dressing was excellent, if you really like blue cheese, as it is loaded with blue cheese chunks. The Louisiana gumbo was also good, as was the 6oz beef fillet. However, the lobster tail was awful, with an excessive dose of seasonings (paprika/salt?) and it was scrawny and had a weird texture. I could barely eat the lobster (a first for me!) Dessert, basically my favorite part of a meal, was bread pudding. The bread pudding tasted awful. It comes in a small round shape, as if it had been baked in a muffin tin. It was dry and tight, with a very skimpy dose of some kind of syrup. Even requesting more syrup did not help and the extra syrup did not make it more moist. I could not eat my bread pudding at all, and it remained on my plate intact, with barely a dent put on it when it was taken away. When the server removed it, he did not inquire whether I wanted to take it home or whether I just didn't like. The restaurant has a cozy and clubby feel, but our server was aloof and haughty. All in all, I have no yearn to return to this Ruth Chris location.

Our last night in Hawaii was truly unforgettable, thanks to the incredible dining experience at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Wailea. From the moment we walked in, everything—from the service to the food to the ambiance—exceeded our expectations.
Reservations & Seating:
A few things to note before dining here: reservations are highly recommended, especially if you prefer a booth. Walk-ins are usually seated at standard tables with chairs, as booths are reserved for guests who book in advance. Also, while the steaks are the star of the menu, they do not come with sides unless you order a combo meal. Otherwise, you’ll need to select your sides separately, which is well worth it considering the quality of the dishes.
Early Bird Special:
We arrived early and inquired about their Early Bird Special, which offers a discounted price on select menu items between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. It was a great deal, so we decided to take advantage of it.
Our Meal:
For our entrées, I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with garlic mashed potatoes, while my wife chose the steak and shrimp combo, which also came with garlic mashed potatoes and a dessert. For her dessert, she picked the Lilikoi (passion fruit) sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal.
Every bite of our dinner was absolutely delicious—the flavors were rich, the portions were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was evident. My sea bass was perfectly cooked, buttery, and flaky, while my wife’s steak was exactly what you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse: tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
Service & Atmosphere:
The service was exceptional from start to finish. The host greeted us warmly, and each staff member—from the server who brought our water to the one who took our order—was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive, which elevated the entire experience.
The ambiance at Ruth’s Chris was elegant yet relaxed, with dim lighting that created an intimate and cozy atmosphere. When we first arrived, the window shades were down to block the bright afternoon sun, but as the evening progressed and the sun set, the shades were raised to reveal a breathtaking view of the night sky. It was a beautiful touch that added to the overall charm of the restaurant.
Final Thoughts:
What can I say about Ruth’s Chris Steak House? Their steak is everything you could dream of—a cut above what you’d find at a regular restaurant that doesn’t specialize in steak. If I ever return to Maui, I would definitely dine here again, especially for a special occasion or a night out with family. But for now, I’ll have to satisfy my steak cravings at the Ruth’s Chris location back home.
Thank you, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, for an amazing evening filled with incredible food, top-notch service, and an unforgettable dining experience!

Came here for my birthday and it was amazing. The porterhouse was cooked perfectly and came out sizzling! The sides were excellent and the ice cream with chocolate sauce was really good.

Where to begin? Waiter was social and easy to work with, steaks cooked to perfection, and then…
Ordered an Old Fashioned. What showed up was crap. Crushed ice, no maraschino cherry, and with a straw. Ruth’s Chris???
I have attached a photo to add to the embarrassment.
To make this even more crazy… other tables were being served amazing looking Old Fashioned’s, nice ice, cherries, and NO straw.
Why me? Yes, I did explain the humor to the waiter who did apologize but did not offer to make it right.
Paid full price. No drink comped. Did not ask.
