The hostess, Amber, was very rude when I called the restaurant to make a reservation. I was standing in a long line outside the restaurant and thought we may need reservations. When Amber answered the phone she asked how she could help me. I said I wanted to make a reservation. She asked what time for the reservation & I said 5 pm. She then stated it was currently 5 pm, it was 4:52 pm. Whig. Then she asked with a very stern voice where I was at and I said I was standing outside the restaurant. She then proceeded to say that she would put us third on the list. I started to provide her my name and she had already hung up. Rude! When we arrived inside, I mentioned to Amber that I had spoken to someone on the phone and they mentioned we were third on the list. She wrote down our table number and then said no one here would ever say anything like that, but anyway.... As she was leading to our table, she said that would be against our policy. When we arrived at our table, I asked her if she was accusing me of lying. No, I wasn’t accusing you of lying. Then I said yes you did! You said nobody in this restaurant would have told me that. She could have rephrased it by saying my apologies for the confusion, I’ll see you to your table. My husband and I walked out after that! Amber lady does this restaurant and industry a terrible service! She’s terribly rude and has a very nasty attitude! If she doesn’t like her job, then she needs to quit! 0 stars!!
My wife and I visited Sansei for the first time this year, and we were absolutely amazed by our experience!!! Everything on the menu was so incredible we went back three days in a row!! BEST SUSHI IN MAUI!!! The service was also second to none!
Sansei made room for us tonight and we couldn't have been more grateful! Sonny guided us on a culinary tour that was absolutely unexpected and such a treat! Everything he recommended was amazing and his lovely service was the icing on the cake to our first night on the island! Panko crusted tuna roll, dynamite shrimp, the filet, butter fish, and so many more! Everything was so very tasty and fresh!! We will be back, and if you haven't been, I suggest that you go!
Food wasn’t all that and over priced. Staff members could have had a little more customer service. It seemed like it was a burden to be there. Bathrooms are located outside in the alley way. If you want to Eat here make sure to call 24 hours in advance to set up reservations otherwise you’ll show up and be turned away.
We so want to support the local restaurants in Maui and in the past have loved Sansei's. So I hate to leave this review, but so many things wrong... We ordered online to go. They said it would be ready in about an hour, but it took more like 1 hour 45 mins.We did not get all that we ordered and the food was okay, not up to their past standard. My husband had to wait at the restaurant and he thought it was unsafe. A party of 21 was gathering out front, with no social distancing. The restaurant was extremely crowded. The party of 21 removed their masks the moment they walked through the door. This is very discouraging as behavior like this is what is keeping businesses either closed or at reduce capacity. If everyone does their part, things will get back to normal sooner and restrictions can be lifted. But this type of behavior will only prolong the loss of revenue and jobs.
